Time Dilation in Space. What is Time Dilation in Space? Space is a place that has different physical laws than Earth. for example, gravity has much less effect in space outside of the atmosphere and the gravitational pull of the Earth.  Another aspect of life that changes drastically in space is time. Time dilation is the scientific term for the alterations in the passage of time that occur in the middle of space. One piece of evidence of the effects of time dilation in space is that the International Space Station has clocks that are minutely slower than those on earth. Why is the dilation of time in space important? It is necessary to understand this phenomenon in order to accurately determine the effects of space travel on the human body.
