☞Today, October 15, is the recommended planting date for Texas 1015 SuperSweet Onions, which are, in fact, named for their optimum planting date (for seeds, not transplants) -- the 15th day of the 10th month.
☞The Texas 1015 Sweet Onion was developed by Dr. Leonard Pike & Dr. Paul Leeper of Texas A&M University. The 1015 continues to be the most popular onion variety in Texas as it has been since shortly after it was first released by Dr. Pike in 1983.
☞In April 1997, Texas House Concurrent Resolution № 148 was approved by both the House & the Senate. On May 5, 1997, Texas Governor George W. Bush signed the resolution designating the Texas 1015 Sweet Onion as the official state vegetable of Texas.
